The Gulf, a new international weekly business magazine covering the six countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), made its debut on the May 10.
Published by the international division of the Bahrain-based Al Hilal Group, The Gulf aims to offer "authoritative reporting and commentary on the Gulf region, focusing on business, financial and economic developments," says a company statement. The magazine has contributors in Asia, the Far East, Europe and North America.
The statement says free copies will be sent to Al Hilal's database of executives for a month, then paid subscriptions will be offered.
The Gulf will also be available on bookstalls throughout the GCC and in key cities elsewhere such as London, Paris, New York, Singapore, Beijing and Hong Kong, says the statement. Subscribers will have access to the magazine’s online news portal.
The first, 52-page issue will examine the Gulf’s nuclear ambitions. Other stories will include the rise of Abu Dhabi, the threat of inflation and growing speculation in the property market.
