Publicis Groupe Media has taken over global media planning and buying for Emirates airline.

Emirates was previously handled by multiple agencies worldwide, including OMD in the region. The news means that Starcom Mediavest Group will be handling the account in the UAE.

The Emirates business, which spans 80 countries with estimated billings of $350 million, will be headquartered in Dubai and lead by Philip Jabbour, client managing director for the Emirates business at Publicis Groupe Media. Jabbour reports to Matt Blackborn, SMG’s global client services director.

“Our team is ready to apply our considerable global resources toward accelerating [Emirates’] expansion while being true to the brand's values,” says Jabbour in a company statement.

"Emirates has found a strong partner to help us become a truly global airline brand,” says Steve Wheeler, senior vice president of advertising at Emirates Group, in the statement. “Publicis Groupe Media's hunger to be part of our growing business, their powerful network and talented team set them apart during the pitch."
