The organizers of the Dubai Lynx award have named Piyush Pandey, the executive chairman and national creative director of Ogilvy, India and South Asia, as jury president of TV/cinema, print, outdoor and radio.
Pandey was named the most influential man in Indian advertising for five years in a row by The Economic Times, a business paper, and in 2004 became the first Asian to chair a Cannes jury.
“When we initially announced the launch of Dubai Lynx, we said we would bring the best jurors and presidents available in the world today,” says Philip Thomas, CEO of Cannes Lions, organizers of the Lynx, in a statement. “They don’t come any bigger than Piyush Pandey.”
Pandey says, “I am delighted ... This is a young festival, and therefore an opportunity for all of us to build a distinctive character for it, a character that is unique to this region, and yet is an inspiration for the rest of the world.”
Before he joined Ogilvy and Mather in Mumbai in 1982, Pandey was a professional cricketer and a tea taster.
