The university of JWT (UJWT) – an initiative launched by ad agency JWT to provide its talent with the latest and highest standards of learning and development – yesterday hosted Edward McDougal, a US expert in the filmmaking industry. He delivered a lecture to students of the American University of Dubai (AUD) and to employees from JWT about decoding visual symbols.
Titled “Constructing emotionally powerful images for film and advertising,” the lecture introduced and engaged students from the Visual Communications Art Department of AUD to the importance of understanding the visual symbols in movies or commercials, and how sometimes still images from feature film clips and ads produce a powerful underlying unconscious effect in the audience.
