Open Skies, the in-flight magazine of Emirates, will unveil a new look next month. According to a release the re-launch “builds on the title’s strong heritage, with new features, a line-up of leading international writers and stunning photography, all presented in a sophisticated and contemporary design format.”

The new content will include human interest features, news and views from around the globe and a recrafting of the conventional travel feature in terms of style and tone. Culture, travel, fashion, technology, gourmet, entertainment and popular business will all be represented in the new format. The release goes on to say that “the emphasis is on delivering a reader experience that is ambitious, cosmopolitan, visionary, empathetic and progressive.”

Other new elements will include a greater emphasis on stylized photography, modernized typefaces and clear signposting to ensure the magazine is easy to navigate.

Maurice Flanagan, vice chairman and group president of Emirates, says, “The new look is a direct result of us addressing our travellers’ needs. We conducted an extensive survey and then passed on the responses to the team at Motivate [Publishing], who used their expertise to deliver a new look and content that is in keeping with both our brand values as a global airline and the interests of our passengers.”
